Concrete wall is on pause until future notice. As of now I don’t believe that I’ll have to remove it however it’s still a possibility that I am prepared for (should be light work 😮‍💨). There is some government stuff I have to sort out so not more wall updates for the time being. Back to the regularly scheduled fish content. You live and learn 🫡. #wall #constuction #government #law

The concrete wall inspector got you 😭🙏

Lol. The govt might take it down faster than whatever erosion, crumbling, or other concerns we have.

Good to hear cheeseball is staying strong in these trying concrete-related times 😔

my guess is that your concrete dust will wash out into state waters, which is considered an environmental discharge which states do not play around with usually, state waters affect fish & wildlife that you’re leaking concrete into

I do a lot of waterway permitting and what you’ve done will probably not need to be taken down unless you chafe someone’s nuts about it. The bad things you did were 1) not get the permit for construction in a waterway, this is a USACE federal permit + your state equivalent that is a prerequisite permit, fairly easy to obtain for average projects 2) built in the waterway with no water protection—you just let Lime soak into the water with no cofferdam or pump around. We love erosion control and concrete blocks like this will do great at that, but you could have avoided 90% of the problems here by hardening the concrete outside of the water for 2 weeks and then moving them into place. That still would have required those permits, but would be so easy to acquire for basically placing rocks and possibly you could get the price on them knocked down or get a local branch of your government to pitch in since active erosion control makes a lot of us happy.

Governments will leave potholes and unfinished construction for 10 years but show up in ten minutes to check what civilians are building on their own property 😂🤣😂

I guarantee that the local government wasn’t aware until someone called and snitched on you. Probably one of the people who said it wouldn’t work and then got mad when you didn’t listen to them

I worked for a large maker of concrete blocks. They had someone haul away old pile of sand and cement waste. Hauler used the material as fill in port of stockton. Employer had to remove the material because it was affecting pH of river. Cost millions to remove.

Building near waterways needs a bit of supervision because if it goes wrong it can affect quite a lot downstream

Government trying to stop the rivers getting poluted 👍

The problem with having a platform is people will tattle on you.

Concrete dust contains Sillica. Do please try to follow any safety recommendations. That shit is no joke.

for those that don't know concrete has a very high PH like 13 on a scale of 1-14 . basically you put concrete in water and it kills everything in the immediate area .

The reason governments have rules and regulations about things like retaining walls is to protect other people. From collapse, flooding, rerouting of water pathways, as well as destruction of habitats of other creatures that depend on the water or the local flora and related issues. So some people need to stop whining about their selfish and narrow view of HIS local government that is dealing with its responsibilities. And from the sound of his commentary it seems like the government officials are working with him.

Government verification is a good thing because changing a small section of water flow can cause erosion and shifting banks elsewhere

Permits are annoying, but the issue with building DIY structures in a stream is that you can royally screw up the opposite bank and downstream and upstream topography by inadvertently altering the hydraulics of the stream.

You would have been better off using cinder blocks and filling them with gravel like any other normal retaining wall I work in concrete and don’t really even recommend these bags for proper use the mix they use doesn’t hold up well but regardless this method is just the worst, the water doesn’t penetrate deep enough and what ends up happening is the outside of the bag will harden and the inside stays powdery.

Retaining walls over 4ft require a permit and engineer stamp. At least in the state i live in. With the wall being right on a flowing water source, there could be concerns with buildup limiting the flow of water.

You do realize that wetting concrete in the bags like that will wash lime and other pollutants into the creek.
