What is this? A mythical rarity midweek misterepic upload? Haven't had one of those since 2020!

Also, because I can already see the comments, I want to make it clear that I retold the story of the botting from the individuals who informed me of it, and I present evidence for and against the potential botting of the vote. You need to watch the video and make up your own mind.

The mob vote is supposed to be a fun event, but with every year it feels like it's going further away from it's original intention. These cause so much hate and arguing that it's probably a better idea to either remake the mob vote, or scrap it.
EDIT: Thank you everybody for the likes. I wish every single one who read/is reading this a great day!

I did notice that even though US polls favored the crab, a lot of polls of latin america favored the armadillo. Along with the Chinese internet being essentially isolated, it really feels just that most of the polls were biased on a region basis.

I think saying there was more mob votes than last year is ignoring a crucial fact is that the voting servers were open for 48 hours compared to 1 hour. It allowed people who couldn't attend Minecraft live to actually vote too

Honestly the fact that China was included in the mob vote for the first time explains it well enough for me. Chinese players who don't speak much English probably never saw much of the English speaking community's discussion, so if on average they preferred the armadillo, it's not like we'd know or consider their votes. Who knows though, hopefully Mojang will be transparent about what happened

The Chinese vote inclusion could maybe also explain why all the polls on Twitter didn't show the same result, as maybe China limits/blocks access to Twitter from inside China, so Chinese Minecrafters aren't included in the Twitter polls.

Another consideration is that I have a suspicion younger players are most likely to vote for the armadillo (the assumption is that younger players play more casually and care more about having pets within the game). In which case these players are less likely to have a voice on social media/take part in twitter polls, meaning there were a lot more players who preferred the armadillo than we thought.

the sad thing is, even if the mob vote was botted, mojang probably wouldn't change it to make it look like they never made a mistake

C'mon now if you're gonna troll a whole community you shouldve bot voted the penguin to make everyone question everything

I've seen tons of foreign people hard advocate for the armadillo. Which is something a lot of people don't take into consideration. US isn't the only country voting. A lot of people across the globe simply preferred different mobs. For example, I've seen a lot of Brazilian fans and influencers rooting for the armadillo because it's Brazil's national animal. And Brazil isn't exactly a small country. I'm not saying there wasn't rigging, but Armadillo's victory could be a 100% legit.

Oh no~ Since the voting was scuffed, that means we just have to get all 3 mobs instead of 1. It’s only fair, after all!

At this point, there should be something like "Mob Vote rejects update", where every single mob that didn't win their respective mob votes come back. Or maybe a "Mob update" in general, but... eh.

Ah yes, Mojang underestimating the knowledge and talent of it's own community. A tale as old as time.

To be fair, this year's mob vote was included in the actual game client and very accessibly compared to last year, which might explain the spike in votes

the extra votes this year can also be accounted for by the mob vote being open for 48 hours beforehand & the other effort Mojang put into making the mob vote more accessible to the playerbase. I think the bedrock audience favoured the armadillo, as they already have longer reach than Java

The thing is, the armadillo was a favorite on latin america, specially on Brazil (some of the brazilian youtube comunity votes had the armadillo with over 90% of votes)

I don't think they were botted in the end. A lot of Latin America votes were for the armadillo, while the American votes were for the crab. Also, most votes were on Twitter anyway, and a lot of kids who aren't on Twitter might vote for the armadillo because they want dog armor more than a reach extension.

I feel like even though it may not have had too much of an effect on the vote, the fact that we do know that botted votes were input at least in a small amount is concerning.

i feel like every mob vote they have 1 obvious correct vote that is way more developed and interesting from the others and then two other less developed options. Its like 1 of them is like already made and then they just add in two other concept ideas. dont take my word for it i probably dont even know what im talking about it just seems so weird to me

I think it's pretty obvious that while the Crab was most popular among dedicated longterm Minecraft players, the Armadillo was much more popular among the casual audience who make up the overwhelming majority of the playerbase. Most MC players are literal children, they probably heard the words "dog armour" and instantly made up their mind
