The volume knob on the standard isn't up all the way or something is wrong with a connection. The standard should have more punch!

I prefer the smoth sound of the standard pickups, but 490t also sound good. Some poeple prefer them.
I like the look of this studio, and I think I would go with the studio, I just like the looks more and it probably costs half the money.

Studio has a 498t in the bridge. It think the output is in the 13k range as opposed to the standard's bridge output being around 7-8k

It’s worth noting that the entire premise of the Les Paul Studio to begin with, was to give you an identical LP sound without the expensive cosmetic frills.
