While many churches had online elements before the COVID pandemic, over the last year and a half these became, for many, the only way the Body of Christ could gather. As we are able to meet physically again, what will the half-physical, half-digital church look like going forward? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this approach, and how can we use every tool at our disposal to reach our Oikos?

I like all the points of view, but more so what Jim was saying that others benefit from each of us being there. Ever since I took the S.H.A.P.E. class, I learned that it's not all about me (being the consumer) but by me benefiting others just by me being there. We need each other, maybe not every single week, but for the most part. Kyle, I wish there were more zoom oikos groups. I loved the one group I was in for I think a month before they cancelled it. I really enjoyed that. My work schedule and distance from the church doesn't always let me join in person, and trying to find a oikos group is a challenge too. Good topic. Thanks!

The church is the place where all believers need to be. Anything else is supplemental to our local assembling. There is no such thing as church online. Since tv era of preachers online in 70s till 90s it was always supplemental or to assist those in old folk homes or long term hospitalized. You cannot pretend you are doing church by only coming occasionally, Scripture says we need to be a gathered people on Sunday the Lord's day. There's a heart and walk issue for those claiming to be Christian but dont GO to church. And a pastor needs to implement counseling and possibly church discipline on those avoiding assembling. As far as traveling you go to a local congregation to worship there. Let's not give into this modern nonsense of online worship. We are to be the gathered of the Lord congregating together weekly.
