Game of the Week | Menlo-Atherton Bears vs Los Gatos Wildcats
by: Cole Dickson
It was a shoot out between Menlo-Atherton and Los Gatos high school. They went back back and forth until our KT Prep MVP De'Marsaun Payton eventually got the Bears to pull away. Payton had over 150 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. He got a lot of help from his kicker Spencer Corona who also happens to be our KT Prep playmaker of the game. Corona caught two touchdown passes and was responsible for the touchbacks with his cannon of a leg. Speaking of touchdowns Senior QB Miles Conrad was slinging it Friday night with 4 touchdowns and over 150 yards. He connected not only with Corona but stand out freshman WR Troy Franklin. Franklin had a special teams touchdown.
The game went back and forth until an M-A stop turned the game for them. Bears LB Kilifi Leaatoa and Daniel Heimuli tagged teamed on Wildcats RB Bryce Fordyce in the backfield knocking the ball loose. DB D'arius Gipson ended up with the ball and took it back for a 99-yard scoop and score. That play shifted the momentum in favor the M-A and they didn't look back the whole game. All gas and no breaks for M-A who pulled out a win 56-41. They are now 2-2 heading in to the league play.
