If there way prior communication that the painting was meant to be solely based off the pictures given and as stated by OP are inaccurate I think OP has a right to decline paying for it or asking ir be redone.

That being said, art is difficult, takes time, effort, and money. The artist either did not listen or there was poor communication on one or both parties behalves. The artist got a 300$ deposit before they made the painting and they made a painting the client is unhappy with.

I think it's reasonable to have the artist redo it so OP is genuinely happy with it and once done raise the final price a significant amount for the extra labor from the artist.

So you asked an artist to create a piece of art. If your going to tell her exactly how to do it, I wouldn’t call it art

If you wanted a picture, hire a photographer. If you wanted a semi-realistic frame of what an artist saw in that moment, as a painter. It sounds to me like you got what you paid for and didn’t even know what you paid for from the beginning
