I like the way that you teach. I really prefer the natural way that your lessons come out with the unedited, real time class room feel. Thanks for taking the time to put out such great content.

Unedited and realtime is always best. Edited drawing videos tend to give the impression of pulling magic tricks. What's not important to the editor might be the one vital bit of knowledge a newbie needed. Besides, it's nice to be reminded not to rush. I'm working on portraits and I'm constantly having to slow down and remember to measure my landmarks

I'm an aspiring game designer and your unedited format is very relaxing and easy to breeze through, please keep up the good work!

Would scribbling a bit like this with the marker but also closing your eyes be a good way to do it? I feel like it'd be easier letting it flow if I'm just not looking at it at all

I wanted to share my actual experience of following your scribble method. I'm a 2D illustrator who has long struggled to draw from my imagination, but in less than a week of daily scribbling I've had a serious breakthrough in ideation and conceptual thinking. I'm creating mechs, dinosaurs, spaceships, and exciting character poses in my sketchbook with force and opinion. I'm not precious about my line anymore, I'm just alternating big/little, hard/soft, straight/curved... it's all working for me. Can't thank you enough for your videos!!!

One thing I love about this exercise is that the same blob can have completely different outcomes. For example, I was seeing a brain on stilts with that downward stroke signifying it as flying upward; the fifth I was thinking it would be facing the camera, and those two little strokes underneath could be weird appendages like eyes or pedipalps. Definitely gonna be trying this out!

I love using this technique for quick thumbnails, its fun creating random shapes experimenting to see the end results!

For me, that green crabby thing turns its butt on us, maybe in an attempt to get away from the spotlight. The colors are a cool touch. Looks like they are a good mix of tones. Bright but not too flashy.
The yellow creature started out as some sort of earwig. These have this long, flat silhouette with the fork-like spikes on one end

I love your unedited videos! They're simultaneously informative, enjoyable and relaxing. I prefer seeing the process that goes into the artwork and see all the little decisions being made real time. Also 14:59 I definitely agree with the bug thing! They're extremely diverse when it comes to design elements to pick and choose from, plus any anatomical mistakes are likely to be less noticeable since they're just weird shaped :3

I've said this on another post of yours. I hate doing thumbnails. And really did not want to even consider it.. but you haven't steered me wrong so far (and many others I'm sure).
I started a sketch for a lizard, took a break, went to go back and hated it. Gave up, moved on, and just did some practice sketching, went back again and the warm up helped tremendously.
Thumbnails it is. 🤦‍♀️ I know I'm stubborn when I'm not comfortable with something at the beginning but usually I learn pretty quickly.
Anyone reads this, just do it 😂

I have a lot of fun with this technique. It can be very challenging to do, but it's worth it.

Right now I've been working on learning to do my own take on Mike Mignola's method of using those amazing black shadows to emphasize the important details and obscure the rest. It's satisfying!
