ULTIMATE 3 Piece Watch Collection Under $500? (Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Phoibos, Tisell)

Here is my take on a perfect 3 piece watch collection under $500. I have a suggestion for more conservative watch collectors with watches like Seiko, Orient and Citizen. And a suggestion for more adventurous watch collectors with watches such as: Phoibos, Tisell, Guanqin, Starking and more. Enjoy the video:)

Agree with the Seiko or Oreint for a diver and dress. The chronograph could be a Seagull 1963.

The Bulova has that high frequency movement with a sweeping hand. I like the bracelet though it doesn’t taper unfortunately. However, it is a strap monster. I have it on a blue lizard strap at the moment which complements the second’s hand.

Orient Ray 2 has a great reputation and also can handle many different straps or bracelet options.

The Dan Henry Evil Panda looks amazing…. I just ordered one. The bracelet looks great and many different strap options would look great.

I think if you only want a few watches or you are just starting a collection, watch straps are important so that a few watches kind of turn into many.

P.S. Please do a $1, 000 and maybe even $2, 000 watch collection. Perhaps include different straps you would consider or have?

My little 3 piece collection:

Citizen Promaster BN0200: Diver/main. Titanium solar diver (Not many of those around.), ca. +3s/year in my case, fantastic titanium bracelet. 360$.

Seiko 5 SNXS79: Oyster perpetual-reminiscent little dress/casual-dress watch. Fantastic sunburst dial and case shape. Got very lucky and mine runs at +0.5s/day out of the box. Amazing. 90$.

Casio g-shock square g5600e: Beater, sports, chronograph, 80$.

I can sincerely recommend all of them. Closer to 550$ total, but a serious upgrade I'd say.

Oleg I have a problem I've got 81 watches in my collection, how can I just pick three lol. Next year I'm gonna be better and just get another 5, maybe 6. My wife is giving me major earache over my hobby. Great choices my friend you've picked some real lovely timepieces

My current 3 watch collection is quite a bit over $500 dollars but i would still consider it a budget collection (<$2000) that suits the needs of every occasion.
1. Tissot Gentleman's 80 powermatic silicium white dial. Great everyday watch for wearing to work and my office desk diving weekday watch. Also what i would wear if i ever need to wear a suit again at a formal event after this pandemic situation is over.
2. SPD051, black dial 62mas, which i'm thinking about selling and replacing with a spb143 next month due to the smaller case size fitting my 6.5" wrists better.
Beautiful diver for formal and casual situations.
3. srdp51, "5kx" blue dial weekend beater, which i surprisingly actually prefer over my old skx0013 due to the hacking and hand winding.

3 piece Seagull collection. Seagull Ocean Star 28800bph, Seagull retrograde flying wheel dress watch with the Triovis Precision Adjustment System. Vintage. Seagull St5 which has a beautifully
ornate movement. The family are getting me a lovely Bauhaus style blue Starking. Just for the looks.
If it stops I will still wear it.
I am selling my Orient Bambino V4 to fund a Seagull 1963 Column wheel Chronograph. The 38mm version. I can't decide between Acrylic or Sapphire. I agree with needing a chronograph but I can't deal with that jerky second hand.

Alternatively, you could go for the Phoibis quartz diver, the Cadisen C1032 for a dress watch (Seiko movement and sapphire crystal) and for the Chrono a Swatch. Plenty of affordable watches out there

Amazon has the seiko 143 solar chronograph for $72 as a Black Friday sale as an alternative

I'd say Casio Edifice line has some cool chronograph too, +/- solar ;D

Got my diver ( modded Turtle) & dress (Christopher Ward, engagement prezzie) watches sorted so I'm currently looking for a chronograph, very tempted by a Swatch irony (stainless steel not plastic or aluminium)...what do you think? Cheers 👍👍

I know you put chronograph but for me, I don't need one and I probably will never get one either because I have found most of them hard to read for me because of how busy they are visually. Really not good for my astigmatism. I just picked up the Seiko SUP880 today. Will be looking for a replacement strap with a gold buckle though as the leather included is REALLY not good.

I was a little disappointed initially that you suggested the very overplayed skx & bambino options. BUT your second round of suggestions Tissell/Phoibos & Guanqin/Starking are very good!
