I absolutely adore this machine. It's just an absolute joy to use. After 20+ years of FL Studio, I got it along side an MPC One+, expecting to use the MPC more, but the 303 has gotten far more usage.

To be honest, it seems like still a better workflow than the samplers. I was using 25 years ago lol I remember seeing this in magazines thinking it probably would be so much fun. And it was much more affordable than the MPC‚s at the time. It’s amazing how things have changed so glad we have the MK2 and other devices now!

This is the only sampler I’ve been using for a couple of months now. I’ve found you’ve just got to create within its limitations. This can certainly be frustrating as our imaginations tend to go wilder than this machine allows, BUT I’ve also appreciated the challenge of reconstructing my imagination into the confines of what it can do. It takes longer to cook, but man does it FEEL good when its done. Plus I just love the way it sounds and the ‘analog’ feel to the whole experience (sorry sp404mkii - you feel too much like a computer!)

Backing up patterns will back up ALL of your 16 internal patterns from Bank A and B (empty or populated) to one of 8 Card slots. Also Loading patterns from your backup will rewrite ALL your internal patterns. So If you want to Copy pattern, have it in internal Bank A or B, Store it to Card (e.g. slot 1), Exchange it to External - Bank C or D, Load patterns from a card slot (e.g. slot 1) and than Exchange your new pattern to External bank next to your original pattern. Backing up/Copying Samples works the same way. Also SP404OG should work the same way. The big downside of Pattern sequencer on SP303 is that if you change pattern during playback, it will change immediately, not at the end of the pattern.

Chopping on the 303 is EASY if you know what you're doing and have an attention span longer than a gnat. Mark and Gate mode method...
