Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” (1988) is a DISORIENTATION ANTHEM authored by Black Francis*.

Here is what the frontman stated about this alternative/indie rock piece : “In terms of the content, you don’t know where that’s going to come. It’s such a ricochet, ‘pinball wizard’ kind of thing - these things bouncing into each other : words, concepts, manic thinking. I had no idea what I was talking about. Certainly, anything that appears into the abstract, I don’t know.”

INTERESTINGLY, producer Steve Albini used some unusual recording techniques on the LP “Surfer Rosa” (1988) : he absolutely wanted to avoid the “studio sound”❗️ For instance, he had all the studio equipment moved into the bathroom in order to achieve A REAL ECHO on bassist Kim Deal’s backing vocals for “Where Is My Mind?”… WELL, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED❕
