I live near there. Another interesting thing close by is Oak Ridge which is very interesting in history! I hike a lot at all the nearby state parks, which are free. Kayaking, too, is fun, but only free if you own your kayak. Hawridge park and the UT arboretum in Oak Ridge are free.

Stay aware of your surroundings while in downtown Knoxville and on the Greenway trails .
I still would not choose to live anywhere else .
