Thank you, this helps a lot! In the NHS in the UK they tend to only be able to give us a set amount of weeks therapy, and they try to persuade us that we need to become independent quickly so we can be discharged. It can increase feelings of failure. What you have said is the opposite, and it's reassuring to hear. x

Thanks a lot for the video Diana! It feels very good to hear this from time to time from a professional. I have been going for therapy since 6 years and for certain skills it really took me years to learn them and I also have to revisit some strategies and all that from time to time. I also try to talk good to myself and be re-incouraging whenever i feel like i am a failure and not making any progress. it can be really hard to change some behaviours and thought processes. sometimes i can not trust my thoughts so i reach out to friends which i can trust and then they help me with re-assuring thay everything is okay and that i can do this.

I really love your videos and they way you are and talk <3 It really calms me down and makes me feel good about myself.

Thank you for sharing Diana. Very good advice. People oftentimes think "weeks" when it's really "years" - depending on the issue(s). At the same time, therapists don't want to have clients indefinitely. They want results!

Thank you for mentioning the cycle. That it keeps coming back, better each time, but it doesn't just "go away." I used to think that I'd get over my "issues" quickly, but I have since learned that isn't the case.
What are your thoughts about how often you need appointments (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.)? I've recently had to cut way back on my appointments, and my therapist suggested that our regularity/consistency is more important than how "often." I want to "believe" her - but part of me just isn't sure.

My wrong idea: after 12 months of therapy there should be visible improvement which is not just a life (statistical glitch). In reality, 9 and 3s weren't enough to do any "real work".
Meanwhile, in published literature, schema therapists achieve significant improvements (2x weeks therapy) with people with NPD. In reality, after 12 months, I have lost a lot of money and gained 1 year. At my age, if I find appropriate therapist in 6-30 months, and few years pass, I will be 50, good time to start family (with whom?). Of course, will job I (mostly) hate. without any chance to go somewhere where I could work on interesting projects.
