The Butterfly

Another drum video from the recording of the Panorama Brasil album Chant/Call: Stories of the Gods.

This piece is a choro melody, with the Ilu rhythm underneath, written as part of my PhD on Candomble rhythms for drum kit. The hands are playing the le/rumpi rhythm for most of the performance, with variations in the bass drum coming from the rum (or "hun") drum of the Candomble ensemble.
