Wow Professor Boyle's view is a tad biased. If he thinks the Protocol Bill protects the single market when it allows ministers to disregard any checks they want to. And he fondly recalls the "jolly" old Northern Ireland of his youth before the troubles, back when it was a one party state that denied access to jobs, housing, and votes to one community because of their religion. When Catholic families squatted for decades in abandoned WW2 huts in Springtown Camp without proper electricity, heat, or water. In damp, cold, squalid conditions with one toilet between nine families, and their babies died of pneumonia. When they protested by occupying brand new-built houses that had been allocated to Protestants, they were forcibly evicted by police. Sometimes in front of the media, you can even see one poor woman with her newborn baby in her arms clambering up from the ground, where they were left lying after being physically dragged out of their house - on a video called Troubles 1966-72, video 2 of 7, on History is Happening yt channel
