Just wanted to say Thank You for this video!! This was a lot of help and I have never done this before and did it myself. Had the cab ready to unbolt, and then had my local mechanic just lift the cab off for me. Removed my cab to do a cab off restoration after an interior fire! Thanks again! Have a great day!

I work on a lot of these trucks and you can remove engine complete by taking out 4 front body bolts on regular cab or 6 on super cab and lifting front of cab. support it with 5 in. wooden blocks. only thing that needs to be taken off of engine is down pipe. be sure to check bed to cab clearance as you lift the cab.do a lot of ambulances this way when cab cannot be lifted. engine comes straight out front. beats pulling cab.

A method I use that has not failed me on dirty Canadian trucks, is to heat the head of each cab bolt, I do my ABC's or about 30 seconds on the head of each bolt, then use my 3/8" cordless impact to pull them out. Enough heat transfers to the threads to warm the locktite up. Even works on the front cab bolts. Haven't spun a cage nut since.

Thanks! The blue cab is off for the RH turbo inlet pipe, and the white trucks were engines!

@PWRSTR0KER2008
Thanks! The video is actually from 3 different trucks. The blue one has the cab removed for the RH turbo inlet pipe. The close up shots showing white vehicles were from an engine failure.

Good work man. What is the cab going up on this truck for?

@runelost88
When removing the cab, if I have no problems like spun cage nuts it takes me about 2 hours to dissasmble and raise the cab. It then take me about 3 hours from dropping the cab to start up. Thanks for leaving comments!

How many hydroboost units do you replace on these trucks? I've already had mine replaced once, and it is leaking again. In fact, it started leaking again less than a month after it was replaced. I have seen a few other 08 Super Duty's leak from it too. I haven't taken it back in, and it is leaking all over the electrical wires, and connections. It's a slow leak though. Mine is an 08

@runelost88
I usually have at least one that always wants to spin. I broke by butane tip so I just use what heat I can get. I now have a propane tip that fits great. I bent and shaved on wrench for the front nuts, but the trick on the front is to put a jack under the front support when removing, works great. I have thought about teaching and have been offered once for UTI and another time for OSU Okmulgee. I make more money turning wrenches.
I have though about building a training class.

Under warranty flat rate, time to remove and install the cab is 6 hours. walk in flat rate to remove and install the cab should be around 8 hours.

I've used used a 1/4 impact snap on bit driver to tighten terminals and it have never crushed a terminal post work smarter not harder

I'm baffled at why this is necessary. If Ford can't fit every thing they should make a tilt hood that takes the fenders up like a semi or go with an inline 6.V8 diesels are not as desirable as an I6 anyway

Do you have any clever way a shade tree mechanic can lift the cab in his garage? Also, does the A/C system need to be recovered?
