The amendment doesn't say convicted, nor is the disqualification limited to participation, but also "giving aid and comfort to" as in, dangling pardons and saying "You're very special, we love you".

The Constitution says, “engaged in insurrection” not convicted of insurrection.

01.16 - The 14th Amendment (Section 3) does not say that someone has to be convicted !

It's so easy to brush off the utterly clear words of the Constitution. Just pretend it doesn't say what it clearly says.

There are many congressional candidates who should fall into this category…

The only States that would remove him are States that he wouldn't win anyway.

Even if he wasnt disqualified having your supprters in jail right now and others flipping because they dont want to go to prison for you isnt a great combo.

Question for the legal historians:

the 14th amendment was put in place to deal with people who had been part of the Confederacy. When they were disqualified following the Civil war, were they found guilty of insurrection in a court of law first? There is probably plenty of precedent that a finding of insurrection does not have to be made for the 14th Amendment to be applied.

Wrong Christie, it also includes "aid and comfort, " and it says nothing about "convicted."
additionally one judge has already stated that he participated in the insurrection - how many do we need?

Colorado should block him. My home is that GA, MI, and other key states follow suit.

Wrong, Christie. He can be removed from ballots, no conviction required.

Question?🤔 How can Trump and members of congress and the senate be convicted of this act 👉 Sec.3 14 amendment

That's an excellent point of view. Defeating Trump outright is a much better way to go. In saying that, the court action against Trump in Colorado must be very irritating for Trump and his legal team, so for that reason, carry on!

The American people fired TRUMP as president, WHY would the same American people vote him back in? BE for real folks!

Christies is wrong. But, we know he is a tool, so this should not come as a surprise. He was a horrible Governor, and he headed a very criminal administration. His record, and report card in NJ are not indicative of this being someone we ought to seek any kind of judgements from.

WoW, the 14th amendment seen as legal technicality. Then, what’s the use of a constitution?

Colorado is not the same they have voted for the problems that they have.

He is giving comfort to the people in jail from jan 6 saying that is going to give them pardon, These comments automatically disqualify him to run again (Christie is wrong).
