"You have to learn both!" That seems to be the answer when choosing between two technologies.

Once you go TypeScript, there's no going back.

Actually I am heavily using ES2015, ES2016 (.includes), ES2017 (async/await, Object.values) and ES2018 (spread, async iterations). I used everything usually since the standard has been finished, sometimes even earlier, like spread operators which are supported by TS (or at least JSX) even before that. And now since over a year I am already using decorators. I guess I am glad there is transpiling nowadays ^^.

I'm using TypeScript I'm my latest side project. It's really good, but when you turn on all the strict settings it can get difficult. I hope they can improve some of the error messages.

I just started using TS but just for giving Types to variables so VS code gives me auto complete when I type. It's great. I want to learn the other features it has now

The managers at work seem to be against type script. I could see it helping in some scenarios. But I am fine just using es6.

It's not super hard to go from JS to TS or the other way around anyway. I came from JS into TS myself. Both are also documented incredibly well.

One day typescript will become another coffeescript. And people will still be writing javascript and converting their ts back to js. Of course ts will influence ecmascript thus, future js will look similar to ts.
