How To Build A 3 Fund Portfolio (The Lazy Portfolio)

In this video, I'll teach you how to build a 3 Fund Portfolio AKA The Lazy Portfolio.

The 3 Fund Portfolio is an extremely popular and low maintenance investment portfolio. Some call this portfolio the "lazy portfolio" due to how easy it is to maintain.

My FREE M1 Finance Training Video:

Creating a long term portfolio strategy that you can "set and forget" or rebalance just a few times a year is a powerful way to build long term wealth.

The reason I say this is because most people get in their own way when it comes to investing.

They invest emotionally, have fear of missing out, panic sell, etc.

This is not a good long-term strategy for investing. Luckily, the 3 fund portfolio fixes this.

The 3 fund portfolio eliminates most of these issues because of its simplicity.

Instead of checking your Robinhood account 20 times a day, you can simply dollar cost average into your 3 fund portfolio over time!

Watch the entire video to understand if this is a good portfolio building strategy for you, and share the video with a friend!

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

"Having recently gained more knowledge about personal finance, I've subscribed to your channel. I want to commend everyone who's tirelessly working to earn a living while also building wealth during this recession. At 45, I'm retired, along with my 51-year-old husband, and we're debt-free. Our plan is to relocate to Thailand. Thanks to our frugal and financially savvy lifestyle, as well as our commitment to saving and investing in the financial market, we've been able to generate passive income even in this recessionary period, allowing us to sustain our desired lifestyle."

*I began my investment journey at the age of 27, primarily through hard work and dedication. I am to share that my passive income exceeded $100k in a single month for the first time. This success reinforces the importance of the advice mentioned earlier. It is not about achieving quick wealth, but rather ensuring long-term financial prosperity.*

Interesting, the stock market is currently experiencing a decline while bond yields are on the rise. However, there seems to be skepticism amongst investors regarding the Federal Reserve's plan to continue increasing interest rates until inflation is stabilized. As for myself, I find myself at a crossroads, uncertain whether to liquidate my $250, 000 stock portfolio. I'm seeking advice on the best strategy to capitalize on this current bear market.

Great video. We all strive for financial independence and better life. It’s not difficult in achieving this through the right investment, living frugally, and budgeting. I’m glad I learned early in life to work hard for financial freedom

I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio of $450k dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

Despite the fact that stock prices fluctuate, what is the best method for capitalizing on the current market? I'm still undecided about investing $400k in my stock portfolio.

Good video, Marko. I've been back and forth between the 3-fund portfolio, Warren Buffet's 2-fund portfolio (90/10 US Stocks/Bonds), 1-Fund Portfolio, Dave Ramsey's 4-fund portfolio (Growth/Growth & Income/Aggressive Growth/International). All of the videos, analyses, comparisons, etc., melted my brain. I've got a few retirement accounts (TSP, 401(k), Roth, Rollover 401(k)), and I think I've got a different portfolio for each kind! Too much information almost paralyzed me. Bottom line, INVEST. Pick a good portfolio, and DON'T CHANGE (like I did).

Per the great Jack Bogle, my retirement portfolio is a single fund - Vanguard Balanced Index fund, Admiral shares. 60/40 auto rebalance. Per Bogle, own the index and grow with America.

The 85% of funds managers underperforming the index provided is for any single year. More impressively and importantly is to look at that figure over 5, 10, and 20 years, where it increases to 90, 97, and 99%. That makes for a more than compelling case for index investing, and how very rare the likes of Peter Lynch truly are.

People pay financial advisors a lot of money to construct a portfolio that you just gave them for free. Great job showing everyone it's just not that complicated.
