You need better protection for the joists than just tape. Tape will breakdown from UV exposure. I use an aluminum cap over a double sticky barrier tape. The aluminum cap will not degrade like the tape will when exposed to the weather and sun.

Instead of doing so many blocks, would it be possible to use 3 4x4s spanning over maybe 3 or 4 blocks and then the deck on top of that? Obviously the deck would sit about 5 inches higher, but if height didn’t matter, would that be possible? Especially in a yard that is not very level, the risers to the 4x4s could be cut to level

Please address contraction and expansion. My father had a composite deck and the fascia would bow out an inch during the summer. Are the composite materials better today than 20 years ago?

Just a quick question, with this being a ground-level deck, do you expect any issues with moisture from rain being trapped underneath and eventually rotting the joists? Any thoughts on ventilation?

Well done. Can you please tell me who made the knee pad? It looks like it works well without slipping down the ankle. I bought almost 5 different pairs but none of them stay on the knee. Thank you
