I once attended an all-day training where the trainer announced that if we were late coming back from lunch, we'd have to sing. I was late coming back from lunch (not on purpose, but things happen). So, she had me get up in front of the group and sing (The song was our choice.). Now, I can actually sing. However, I purposely sang off tune. After about 30 seconds, the trainer told me to sit down. "But I'm not done with the song." I mockly protested. "Oh, yes you are." Said the exacerbated trainer.

As a music teacher, singing shouldn't be used to embarrass people. I had a principal who would talk about growth mind set and then would say she "couldn't carry a tune in a bucket" in front of students. 🤦.

My high school drama teacher did the same thing for late students. My mom is a jazz singer, and ive performed with her a few times. One day mt teacher blocked me from getting into class so she could hear me sing. What an awesome woman ❤😊

I had a trainer try to do this to me.
I sat down and said no.
He said I had to until I explained he could continue the class with me or without me. I wasn't the one who had to explain why the star trainee quit.
He rethought it. I explained things he didn't understand on the regular. He knew managers were excited to have me there

We had a teacher try this on the students, and I went to an AWFUL school. Kid walks in 2 minutes late, she tells him to either sing a song or leave. He says no, he’s not singing and he’s staying for class. She tells him to leave, so he drops the HUGE fountain drink he had on the floor and leaves. She never asked anyone to sing again.
