This is probably the sharpest Jaguar footage I've seen on youtube.

Very good selection.

It's a bit sad that years amateurs in their free time are making Atari Jaguar games much better than many of the professionals during the Jaguar's life time.

This is the best looking Jaguar footage I've seen on You Tube. I've never played a Jaguar but the games for the system look like a blast to play.

If there is one person who can salvage the jag, its going to be John Hancock. Nice selection.

I think the Jaguar over the years became more of a coders curiosity, as they heard it was hard to code on and was notorious with horrid ports of bad 16bit games. Honestly the only game that was up to par was Rayman, so sad tho, cause if the developers actually tried it could have at least survived a bit longer.

I FINALLY got the Gamedrive (I had to get it from Dragonbox in Germany since all the U.S sellers haven't had them in stock for several months and scalpers on ebay are trying to sell these for $500 each, which is absurdity I refuse to pay). Here is my experience with it so far:
While I haven't played ALL the cartridge games, I have played a huge number of them and they all work. So no problems there on the gamedrive when it comes for Jaguar cartridge games.

As for the CD games, most seem to work now after the newest firmware update (I've been playing the Jaguar CD version of Primal Rage A LOT on the Gamedrive. Works great!!). However, I still have SEVERAL more CD games I need to play. The only ones that do NOT work for me so far are:

1) "Black Ice White Noise" (this was an UNFINISHED Jaguar CD exclusive game, which was suppose to have been their "big budget killer app" properly showing off the 64-bit 3D graphics of the Jaguar, that was never released due to Atari dying before they had a chance to finish the game. I tried to get the unfinished prototype to work on the Gamedrive, but it won't even boot up for me (ironically, all I get is a Black SCREEN and white noise for Black Ice White Noise. LOL). This unfinished / unreleased game has a VERY, VERY cool as hell behind the scenes documentary about it on Youtube that's worth seeing as it shows Atari during it's dying days at it's headquarters during late 1995 and the stuff they were doing for this game is freaking crazy in a good way.

"Zebra hookers" for the win. LMAO.

On a side note, the file size for this Black Ice White Noise game is about 600 MB or so... there is definitely something in this file (most likely the unfinished yet playable prototype of the game), but until there is a firmware update, this currently does NOT work on the Gamedrive.

2) Soul Star (the game will NOT work. It should be noted that the Jaguar version of the game was UNFINISHED and never released. For anyone wanting to play it, play the fully completed and released Sega CD version)

3) Demolition Man (the opening FMV movie intro does play. After that, the game does NOT start. It should be noted that this was an UNFINISHED game that was never released for the Jaguar. For anyone that wants to play Demolition Man, go seek out the fully finished and released 3DO version).

4) Robinson's Requiem (the opening company credit videos will play and the title screen saying "Robinson's Requim" will show... and then the game just freezes and I can't go beyond that. It should be noted that this game was NEVER officially released for Jaguar. Granted, I think I've seem some UNofficial Jaguar versions of it for sale from homebrewers. While it was NEVER officially released for Jaguar (it was suppose to, but it got cancelled due to Atari imploding by early 1996), it was an OFFICIAL release for the Atari Falcon, which was Atari's mid-90's computer, and their final released computer, that has specs which are identical to the Atari Jaguar. If anyone wants to play Robinson's Requim, either seek out the officially released Atari Falcon version (granted, trying to get an actual working Atari Falcon is a pain in the ass) or play the OFFICIALLY released 3DO version (which is the easiest way to play Robinson's Requim, just play the 3DO version).

Every other CD game I have tried works, it's only those four I mentioned above that won't start for me.
Even though it should be noted that I'm still NOT done trying all of the CD games yet... I still have more to go.

On a side note, the demos for the unreleased Jaguar CD FMV game "Caves of Fear" are actually interactive (at first I thought it was a normal movie.. NOPE... you can actually control what happens. I think it's the "C" button you press if you want to pick what to do when it shows up on the bottom of the screen. I accidentally killed the nurse in this game when I accidentally hit a button on the controller during my second time watching "Caves of Fear". LMAO. During my first play through, she was nice to me. During my second playthrough when I accidentally picked something while she was talking to me, she tried to KILL me in a very vicious way (she got ultra vicious) and then I ACCIDENTALLY killed her (I didn't mean to. LMAO).

Also, American Hero (the other Jaguar CD FMV movie game) is UNcensored... it's very much rated R and shows all the NUDITY (I don't know if it's interactive, I was too busy watching all the strippers running around naked. LOL).

On a side note, I'm still testing if the games actually SAVE when you save a game (especially for the CD games). I'm still testing this out. They are suppose to SAVE on to the SD card, but I'm still testing things out to see if the saves stay for the long term without problems. So far I haven't had any problems.

On a side note, I am using a Sandisk 32 GB micro SD card for the Gamedrive.
While 32 GBs is over kill (all the cartridge and CD games and other games only took up about 10 GBs total, give or take) the card works with the Gamedrive and I want to keep it in the event anything else can be used with the Jaguar Gamedrive in the future.

On a side note, when I first plugged the gamedrive in, it didn't want to read the memory card. Since the Jaguar's cartridge slot is sensitive, I took out the gamedrive cartridge and put it back in and after the third try the Jaguar accepted the gamedrive perfectly. I haven't had any problems ever since and I'm NEVER removing that Gamedrive from the Jaguar's cartridge slot. LOL.

More side notes:

SOME Atari ST games, the type that have been converted over to work with the Jaguar SKUNK cart, work with the Gamedrive. NOT all them work with the Gamedrive, but the ones that do work on the Gamedrive that I found on Atari Age are:

1) Gauntlet 2
2) Action Fighter
3) Bubble Bobble
4) Cybernoid 2
5) Mr. Heli
6) R-Type
7) R-Type 2
8) Solomon's Key

Those are the Atari ST games (that have been converted to SKUNK and are on the Atari Age website) that work perfectly with the Jaguar gamedrive. I've tried others like the SKUNK converted Atari ST version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Jaguar gamedrive, but they won't work. The only Atari ST games that work for me on the gamedrive are the eight mentioned above.

As for Reboot's Freeware games found on the Retro HQ website in the resources section for the Jaguar Gamedrive, ALL of those games work without any problems.
Granted, I still have a few more to still play, but so far there have been no problems and the ones I have tried all work.

Finally, for anyone looking for Brett Hull Hockey (which was an UNRELEASED Jaguar cartridge game. It was suppose to have been OFFICIALLY released by early 1996, but they couldn't release it in time before Atari imploded (as well as Atari deciding not to pay the NHL license and Brett Hull license at the last minute or something). It was never OFFICIALLY released for the Jaguar, even though there have been UNofficial cartridge releases of this game from homebrewers since the game was 99% finished and is fully working) it's available on Atari Mania's website (I strangely couldn't find it anywhere else where the other Jaguar games were available on the internet) and the Atari Mania version works perfectly with the Jaguar Gamedrive. How does the Jaguar version compare to the officially released SNES version? The Jaguar version has graphical differences (it looks rougher yet MUCH more vibrant. The SNES version looks more "normal" but far less vibrant compared to the Jaguar version. Side by side graphically, the Jaguar version pops out at you more) but from little I've played it appears to be pretty much the SAME game (even though the Jaguar version appears to have A LOT more audio from the play-by-play person). So if one doesn't want to go through the trouble of getting the Jaguar version, try the SNES version (which is 100% fully completed, instead of the Jaguar version which I think is only 99% fully completed, but it does work perfectly on the Atari Jaguar gamedrive).

Just got mine in finally today! My Jag with SCART cable sits there nicely in my closet, and due to ridiculous prices all I have is Raiden, Cannon Fodder, Cybermorph, Iron Soldier, and Trev McJUNK. Now I can finally get the others and Jag CD games, on top of the great homebrew community!

I loved the jaguar john, and your right, a severely underrated system to say the least. One of the biggest mistakes i made was getting rid of my jaguar, as i miss tempest 2000 terribly. I played that game to death, and thanks for mentioning that nintendo cable adapter, i had no idea it existed

Stunt Car Racer is heaps of fun. I especially like how your car's chassis cracks when you land too hard, and gets holes in it when you come off the track that accelerate the formation of cracks. That felt much more realistic than it perhaps was! But very fun game even if you didn't like Hard Driving.

Those games look great! I have only played the Jaguar a single time (and that was brief). Thank you for the video.

Cannon Fodder is an all-time classic. Iron Soldier is very good. I also enjoyed Cybermorph. Great video, I enjoyed watching, thanks! 👍

When I was growing up the Jaguar was like an urban legend. My friends and I had heard about it but none of us had ever seen one.

Loved the game Vid Grid for the Jaguar CD. Simple puzzle game in which you have to unscramble the video before the song ends but had a blast with it

These are some of the best Jaguar games I've ever even knew existed. What a half and half system.
