This is why you're better off being a strong, independent individual and leader rather than a follower desperate to belong to a collection of cretins (or ANY group) whom ultimately couldn't care less about you anyway, in the end.
To the younger people, don't be afraid to be a loner. Others will drag you right down with them.

Almost half a century in this world of death and constant entropy has taught me that much.

As someone who grew up and still lives in a college town, there’s to many kids who’ve died after crazy hazing rituals. That type of behavior should never be allowed at a school and the whole fraternity should be fully held responsible including the school

There needs to be a broader conversation about the glorification of drugs and alcohol during college. At the end of the day universities and Greek life can only do so much to prevent things like this from happening. The college where I am from constantly has stories of people falling out of windows and off of decks at frat parties. This is a known party school. There is just something to be said for the dangers of binge drinking and the real life consequences that come with it.

This is the 2nd hazing story I’ve heard in one week. The other kid is paralyzed because of the drinking he did.

Sometimes you gotta put your foot down and say no. Its hard sometimes but just remember that No is a powerful word

Members of such fraternities should be required to go around to all the other fraternities and warn them about the dangers of excess alcohol and other dangerous hazing practices.

This was unbelievably tragic, but I can't say I was surprised when I learned that it happened. I attended Bowling Green State University for almost five years, and while it's an incredible school from an academic standpoint, campus authorities let fraternities get away with a lot. I'd like to think things changed on campus after this event, but I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't.

Why do people who attend uni or college think it is all about parties / being intoxicated or wild sex. At that price one would have thought that it is all about getting a higher education

This just keeps happening: there is such disregard for another person's life. I think the true reward for joining a fraternity or sorority is the ability to abuse others.

I asked my son who's at University in Brazil if hazing happens in Brazil. He said they're not that stupid. They see this behavior as bullying and stupid because it puts people's lives at risk!

those poor parents as the schools, students and parents all need to take responsibility since dangerous hazing is well known to occur so tell your child not to affiliate with a fraternity or sorority to help keep them safe

College might have some minor reaponsibility, however they were all adults and should have know better. They were jot forced but did it on their own.

People join fraternities/sororities for the parties. The whole Greek system is a mess

I'm trying to figure out how this is the schools fault, they are all adults, no one forced him to drink that much. You act reckless and irresponsible you pay the consequences. It's not the colleges job to babysit your kid

I'm confused, is somebody supposed to survive this?
