The Pianist is a 2002 biographical Holocaust war drama film produced and directed by Roman Polanski, with a script by Ronald Harwood, and starring Adrien Brody. It is based on the autobiographical book The Pianist (1946), a memoir by the Polish-Jewish pianist, composer and Holocaust survivor Władysław Szpilman. The film was a co-production by France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland.

He was trying to hide the guns so he lied about the potatoes. German finding beans instead of potatoes gives him satisfaction that he caught him in a lie and stops him from searching further

There’s far too many people here who don’t understand this part of the movie. He has a gun. The beans were a distraction so if someone got suspicious yes he would be “lying” about there being potatoes and bread. Honestly

Reminds me of the smuggler, who crossed over the border within Germany's two halves. Everyday he crossed the border, on a bike, with a huge backpack full of stuff. They always searched his backpack for contraband and they never found anything. Every day he went to East Germany on his bike and walked back, later that day. Every day. They never suspected him to smuggle bikes. 😂

Contrary to belief, the SS wasn’t in charge of ghettos but ORPO (order police). Gestapo and SD was in charge of the killing. Totenkopfverband was in charge of the camps. The uniform is the right one this time. Good movie.
