In the case where we were to do this question, where the polynomial p(x) = x^2 +ax : a is R, will this mean the zero vector does not exist in this subspace? I find it difficult to find explanations with examples where the W does not have a zero vector.

how 0 is contained in w? because w dont allow the constant, only coefficients of x^2 and x are allowed
