The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has scaled back on government jobs quota that had a 30% reservation for families of veterans who served in the country's independence war of 1971. Student protests continue despite the judgment. Nationwide curfew in place since July 19.

Really the decision of the Bangladeshi Supreme court regarding the Scrapping of the Job Quota Policy of Bangladeshi Govt. is very justified and highly appreciable. Hopefully the said decision of Bangladeshi SC will provide job opportunities to the affected peoples in Bangladesh.

According to this rule, the government can increase or decrease the quota amount as per their wish. This means that the government can use these rules to make the quota system more difficult, just as the government abolished the quota system in the past to quell student protests but later brought it back.

Moreover, this protest is not only for Quota anymore, we demand justice for the senseless killing of our innocent brothers.

Very good and reasonable verdict by Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
Merit should be the only criteria, if the country has to move ahead.
Reservation for third generation freedom fighter's decendents is absolutely unfair. Many those who claimed to be freedom fighters ( mukti jodhas), genuine or not, are no longer here. In fact, many such claimants, were hiding in India, during the freedom struggle and enjoying the hospitality of Indians in WB and Tripura.
When they returned to newly formed Bangladesh after the war, , they gave false addresses to those who fed them for months, and invited them to Dhaka !! Judge for yourselves.
