Heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, submerging low-lying areas and disrupting road and rail services. The Telugu states are expected to receive more heavy rain over the next 2-3 days.

The relentless downpour has caused widespread flooding, landslides, and property damage, significantly affecting normal life. Many low-lying areas are submerged, and roads are underwater, hampering traffic and isolating certain regions. Train services have been disrupted, and schools in Hyderabad have been closed as a precaution, with both states bracing for additional rain.

In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains have resulted in at least eight fatalities due to flooding and landslides. Many residents from low-lying areas have been relocated to safer locations, with around 80 people rescued in various operations by the national and state disaster relief forces, along with local police.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been actively monitoring the situation, having canceled all his programs on Saturday due to the severe weather conditions. He has instructed officials to release Rs 3 crore to each district to facilitate immediate relief measures.

Among the victims, five died in landslides at Mogalrajapuram in Vijayawada. In Guntur district, a teacher and two students lost their lives when their car was washed away by an overflowing stream.

The most affected areas include Vijayawada, Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Kaikaluru, Narasapuram, Amaravati, Mangalagiri, Nandigama, and Bhimavaram, among others.

Train services on the South Central Railway (SCR) have been severely affected due to waterlogging on tracks in several locations. Train movements on the Vijayawada-Warangal route have been stopped after a local stream overflowed, submerging the track near Vijayawada. Similarly, a swollen stream has disrupted services at Tandalapusalapalli near Mahabubabad railway station, affecting the Warangal-Khammam route. Floodwaters washing over tracks near Kesamudram railway station have also forced authorities to halt trains at nearby stations.

A section of the railway track gravel near Kesamudram in Mahabubabad district was washed away due to the floodwaters, leaving passengers stranded at the Kesamudram railway station.
