BIRTH VLOG *raw & real* // LABOR AND DELIVERY OF OUR FIRST BABY

I've watched 1000's birth vlogs and now it's finally time to share my own! It was the hardest and most intense thing I have ever done and it didn't go as plannend. I dreamed of an all natural vaginal birth but that's not what happened. My labor was induced and because after hours of heavy contractions, breaking my water and stripping my cervix I still had almost no dialation - they performed an emergency C-section on me to get baby girl out.

Ivy De Poorter was born on 21/01/21 @ 15h with a weight of 3.8kg and 51cm. She's so loved allready! The most precious little human, that I made in my belly. Half me and half my favorite person in the world, Jonathan, her baby daddy (who was my rock during this whole experience).

It makes me so sad thinking that women feel like failures for getting epidurals. There is absolutely nothing wrong and no shame for doing something that gives you peace in comfort during labor. 9 months of being pregnant shouldn’t have to end in agonizing pain. The epidural helps so much and is truly a gift from God. Congratulations you did incredible!

Never feel defeated for taking the epidural. It’s hard to relax through intense contractions for so long with very little progress. Feel proud that you did what you did to help your body relax and for you to cope through your journey. You grew a healthy thriving newborn! You are a superstar!

It breaks my heart that not being in pain made you feel "disappointed in yourself". What kind of society teaches women to be ashamed if they don't suffer enough?! You carried your child, you are a mother and deserve to be helped through the last obstacle you face before holding your baby.

It really upsets me that so many women feel pressure to NOT have an epidural. You labored long and hard like a champ for your beautiful baby. Epidurals allow you to relax and enjoy your birth without being overly focused on pain. I'm glad you got the epi. Makes you no less a natural mom--you birthed a baby! She's precious!

I applaud all women. We go through so much crap with bodies and child birth. We deserve more respect, you're a super mom. You're not a failure, congrats to your family for the new addition.

It's amazing how all mothers go through a lot of pain just for their babies to be born safely🥺
God bless all mothers in the world💗🙏🏻

The epidural was what actually relaxed me enough to deliver my first two babies. I wasn’t progressing either. I honestly believe that the extreme pain and stress stopped me from progressing because I was fighting it so hard just from the extreme pain. Within ten to thirty minutes I delivered both times. My third baby, the doctor was a woman and she was amazing and didn’t make me suffer like the first two doctors. She enduced me and hooked me up to the epidural immediately and I had my doctor immediately in a very relaxed environment. I wish she’d been my doctor the first two times. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

This was so similar to my labour with my first child and I can relate 100% to everything you were feeling throughout your experience. Unfortunately I had to go through 48 hours of that before they did my c-section and as a result both my son and I almost passed away. I am so thankful they got you in so quickly and Ivy was born healthy and that you are safe. Congratulations.

Epidural or no epidural you are still a Momma ❤️❤️ a mother can go to any extent for her child and whatever she decides doesn't make her any less ❤️❤️ Proud of you ❤️

This was exactly my experience. Held off on meds as long as I could, ended up getting an epidural, still no dilation (1.5cm) and ended with emergent c-section anyway. I felt like my body betrayed me and so much guilt. But now that she is almost 2 years old I see how much my body did for me and how even though It wasn't how I'd always imagined it, my body was still amazing. YOU are amazing, I'm so happy you had a healthy little bean in the end.

Back in the 70’s before epidurals I had 3 natural childbirths. The first one was a “complicated” delivery.. 21 hours of hard labor & believe me, had there been epidurals, I would’ve had one in a heart beat!! Whether you push a baby out or have a c section, mommies are warriors!!! 👶🏻💕

Please don’t feel disappointed in yourself for getting an epidural. Having a baby That’s real pain!! You labored for hours without it and progressed very slowly, so you are a hero!! This was a long labor. Congratulations on your beautiful daughter!! Great job mama. And Papa!!

Thank you for sharing that intimate moment. No wonder you had crazy contractions, after this (unnecessary?) induction marathon. And it made me so sad that nobody helped you through it, nobody offered you pain relief like massage, applying pressure, accupuncture, heating pad, movement, bathtub (more than once) or ultimately some form of medication. You did awesome and none of that is your fault💕 I have a very similar birth experience, sadly.

There are so many birth vlogs on YouTube now but sooo glad I found this one! These two are precious!! When she cried a little, my heart went out to her. I wanted to encourage her and tell her that she was doing SOO well!

You did an amazing job ! Salute to all the mothers out there !! When I was a ternager, i thought injections are the most painful, until one of the doctors told me "wait until you become a mother ". Now im a mother of one, and i realized what she told me before. I had my labor for 12 hours . But the feeling when you see your baby, is amazing .

You did amazing!!! Please please please don’t feel like a failure for having an epidural. It’s there for a reason. You went so long with so much pain and no progression there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s exactly what you needed and same goes with the c-section. I can understand the gutting feeling of not having the birth you imagined or hope for but oh my gosh look what you did! You made an absolutely beautiful human and that’s incredible. You did so so well and I hope you feel insanely proud of yourself xx lots of love from NZ 💜 congratulations xx soak up all those cuddles xx
