Excellent interview! I just finished reading Ann Pettifor's book "The Case For The Green New Deal" and found it to be fascinating. Grace Blakeley has a solid understanding of the problems with the financial system and the solutions going forward. The mainstream media, owned by billionaires, will push back hard against these reforms. We seen the power of the media in taking down Corbyn.

An email I sent to my kids about this interview:
“This young woman really nails it. One of the most succinct and thorough explanations of this subject I’ve heard over many years— and I’ve lived through this stuff. I’m especially impressed with her analysis about the way forward. Listen to her answer to the objection about capital flight to get a sense of her comprehensive understanding.”

Financialization, the art of convincing the rest of the world that they should exchange things of real value for worthless pieces of paper like dollars...

Read this excellent book. So instructive on Neo-Liberal economics. Insightful, well- articulated and much better than I even hoped. Public banks need to be in the future. Free Assange

We are entering a financialized economy that demands higher compounded returns. It will cannibalize every other sector of the economy...modern day tragedy of the commons.

Couple of points. What she is saying is correct - if not novel. And if Labour typically appointed uncredentialled 15yr old advisors that might have something to do with their electoral credibility.

Finance runs the world and has done so for centuries, the world system is based on money, power and control. The horse of financialization bolted a long time ago.

Western democracy has never been inclusive, it always has been based upon lobby, the privilege of "enterprise" to advance their policies in Parliaments. And that is, legally.
If capitalism is beneficial it wouldn't need lobby since it would be popular.
Economist haven't came around the fact that money is not value. Capitalism extracts value from society, warping culture in the process leading to devaluation and crisis.
Economy has been the worst science of all. Not surprisingly.

They are not going to allow anyone to push the balance of power away from capital. That same capital also owns and directs the warfare apparatus, which they will turn on you. There's no escaping this alive.

16:25 ok, right now that is the case. But... will the $ remain reserve currency if USA stops arming and protecting Saudi regime?

In response Saudis probably will start to accept oil payments in other currency, bringing about a vast drop in dollar demand.

While the book states the obvious, consider how this is enabled. Would this be happening without the decrease of IQ to low IQ of 85 to 95? The answer then would be, how to save the world from low IQ?
And that would encompass low stress that the current capitalistic economy does not allow, genuine health protections that are now always being 'reassessed' or ignored, and the actual ownership of land now at an all time low in the US hidden as 'ownership' of trailers sitting on rented lots. Elsewhere in the world the wars are the actual forces that reallocate land ownership. Humans are redundant everywhere.

Does she tell us what exactly is private "The Pound Sterling" and "The US Dollar" banknotes? She uses the word "Money", but does she tell us what "Money" is in the English Central Banking world? Probably not. A must read to understand money and our government history (From the post-Revolution "Continental", to the Civil War Era "Green Back", to the Gilded age Silver Standard, and creation of private banker Federal Reserve Central Bank System on J.P Morgan's Jekyll Island in Georgia in 1913) is "Web of Debt" by Ellen Brown. It's a ground-shaking read, and surprisingly interesting and digestible. There is no way to take back the power of the banks while you are using their private "currency" banknote Money. And in the USA the private bank consortium called "Federal Reserve" issuing their private "US Dollar" banknote is blatantly Un-Constitutional, as the Constitution reserve to the US Government the right to "Coin Money". So, we do have a way forward, should someone want to challenge the Federal Reserve in the Supreme Court.
