I approve of the rule change (for the most part) but at the same time I seriously don’t understand how they can let a WR stand that obviously happend by breaking the rules. A wrong decision imo and no matter what the WCA says, this WR will never be legit in my eyes.

I’ve said it in another video and I’ll say it again, I cannot for the life of me understand why WCA competitions don’t employ the use of cameras at each station for basic video review of top solves. The WSSA in cup stacking has done this for years, and the cost to implement such a system with bare-bones-basic 1080p60 action cameras is no more costly than the setup for Timers, Tournament Displays, Mats, Cables, etc for. These should be basic necessities just like every other piece of equipment provided by sponsors no matter the size of the competition…

The only thing that could be beating Yiheng’s record is just to memorise the moves for all 3 million 2x2 scrambles

(per forum comments wrc voted unanimously to penalise yiheng's 0.78, it was overruled by the board. 5 wrc members and some delegates have apparently stepped down either wholly or in part due to this decision)

finally. I think frame by frame analysis is definitely needed. Not sure what I feel about the WR still standing… yeah not applying the rules retroactively does also make sense, you know what I mean?

The annoying fact is that 0.78 is almost impossible to beat without sliding and only a handfull of people have dont it at home which makes this record almost impossible to beat

so if anything a high level solver would not want to record their solves or record it at low framerate to make framecounting less precise if they wanted to keep the advantage?

I personally think that the decisions that they made were the right ones. It does seem unfair to keep yiheng's WR standing, but it would be even more unfair for yiheng's record to be removed because of regulations that didn't even exist when he did the solves. Thanks for the great vids!
