I started Medicare A and B in June during a SEP. got a great Medicare Advantage Plan for $0 premium, $60 a month reduction in my Part B premium and very low co-pays for tier 1 and 2 drugs (I take no medications on a regular basis) You don't have to have a PCP, there's no preauthorization required to see an in-network specialist that's a $40 co-pay. Yes, the deductible is higher if I have some serious medical issue, but balancing all of that with my good health seems like a good deal to me. Oh and yeah, a dental benefit and a membership at my local YMCA which is better than most gyms in Austin and I get $50 a quarter to buy over the counter drugs. Medicare is like any other good or service. You have to do your homework and consider your individual situation. Soon I'll find out what the cost and benefits will be for 2024 and I will have a chance to change to another MA plan or switch to a Supplemental plan and Part D. Feeling good about my choices. Paying out of pocket right now letting my significant HSA balance continue to grow.

Out of pockets in most MA are more than Supplements yearly cost. out of pocket can be 1000 to 5000 a year and if major illness can’t get out of MA. And some pre authorization can be a nightmare under MA. Not worth the frustration!
