I saw the news on the BBC the other day. I’m so hyped even if I will be in my 30s by the time it’s open.

It’s cool when a non theme park channel talks about theme parks. I think this new park looks awesome and I’m glad universal is building new parks

The paramount park was a completely different proposal in a completely different place. Paramount was going to be on the Swanscombe Peninsula in Kent. Universal will be just to the south of Bedford in Bedfordshire.

So there is another big property in Universal currently that does have some unique ties to Britain, Donkey Kong. The original arcade game was made by Nintendo, but the Donkey Kong Country series was originally developed by the British company "Rareware". They no longer work on it now though and Nintendo fully handles the series again, and I doubt it would be added for that reason, but Brits are behind the Donkey Kong we know and love today.

Also, I hope a potential Back to the Future area means that we may get Back to the Future again in the Orlando Park. The Simpsons, which replaced it, is set to have its liscense run out in the next couple years, and them either rebooting the full World Expo for Synergy with Men in Black, or making a full on Hill Valley that hits on ever present 80s nostalgia that even kids from my generation (2000s) would vibe with, would be very exciting.

If they do World Expo though, it could be a fun way to bring back Ghostbusters as well, and possibly feature other fictional companies like Ingen from Jurassic Park and Cyberdyne from Terminator.

As a theme park nerd Universal did actually used to have a European theme park in Spain that is now called Port Aventura World and gets new owners every few years

This is actually a completely different site, as the proposed Paramount park was gonna be in Swanscombe Kent, the new Universal park is in Bedford. I'm glad to see that they're bringing in some new I.Ps that are fresh for the UK. I also think it will help boost the theme parks around the UK with the new park bringing in people from around the world like in Orlando which has many other supporting parks and also encourage (friendly) competition pushing for growth.

Cannot wait for this park! This puts the UK on the theme park map on a global level like never before.

Looking at the concept art, I see five clear themed areas, which I currently believe will be: Minions, Shrek, Jurassic World, Back to the Future, and Paddington. There are also three immediatlly obvious plots of land for possible expansion, one of which I am sure will be Lord of the Rings, a few years later down the line.

I do think that the Green coaster will be Jurassic themed, as I see Universal giving us an Emerald City, Wizard of Oz/ Wicked themed area later down the line, either in the UK or at one of the American parks.

There are two obvious show buildings, one at the entrance and a big arena style structure towards the back of the park. One of these will likely be a James Bond themed show. I suspect the one at the entrance, as the one at the back looks very similar to Universal's existing Waterworld show.

Also of note is that this park will only take up half of the land Universal bought, there is another plot just next to it. So a second park is almost certainly in the cards.

All in all, it's all very exciting.

Tad disappointed about the harry potter thing. I love the studio tour but universal gives a completely different experience that I'd love to see for myself.
Its a real shame.

3:00-3:10 Already, Japan and China have something similar to that high speed railway connection idea. For Japan, you can get from Tokyo Disney Resort to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka in just 2 and a half hours. For China, you can get from Shanghai Disneyland to Universal Beijing Resort in just about 4-5 hours.

As someone who’s grown up in Bedford it’s really odd hearing it now being mentioned by name by my favourite YouTubers 😅

paramount were looking at a different site in Kent. The universal park is a completely separate thing. I can see how you might have thought it was the same site though
