When I discovered the Grieg as a teenage 50 years ago, I played it incessantly until I drove my parents crazy. One soon moves on to other masterpieces but that MEMORY of that once-forgotten love was LIT AGAIN by this GLORIOUS performance by 75-year-old, Madame ELISABETH LEONSKAJA!!~~~♥♥♥♥ Thank you for these tears which welled again in my eyes after so many years. ♥

Corría el año de 1953. Una tarde llegó mi padre del trabajo (era pintor de brocha gorda, pero amaba las Bellas Artes) con un regalo bajo el brazo: en una funda de cartón, un disco de acetato de 33.5 RPM. El concierto en La menor de Grieg. No me cansaba de escucharlo una y otra vez. Y, hasta la fecha, 2022, lo sigo escuchando. Gracias Grieg por recordarme a mi padre. Gracias padre por tan hermoso regalo.

This performance is so stunning. Never in my life would I believe that the Grieg concerto could be played with so much love and passion that it moved me to tears. Watching Elisabeth Leonskaja play was so moving. Her expressions were so real and poignant. And Paavo Jarvi is a joy to watch and how he gets so much out of the orchestra. Thank you for this extraordinary concert.
