My neighbours are German and when they moved in the first thing they did was replace the windows with this kind 😅

Ah yes, the “you’re already stressed about being in a new country AND you think you broke your window AND for that split second that it’s gonna crush you”

When I first visited Germany, I tried to open the window and screamed like nothing in this world and hugged the window and not letting it fall down😁😊

For anyone wondering those tilting windows where invented by the German Wilhelm Frank in 1935

When I moved to Russia, the first time I opened a window it scared the shit out of me, I thought I broke it, hugged it and tried to stop it from falling, very convenient definitely should become a universal things

Okay but consider: wanting rain scent without rain splashing into your home so you open your window this way and the rain just slides down

When you want to airate a room but not open the entire window because of the cold, that's a lifesaver.

When I was an exchange student- I went into my room and wanted to see if I could open the window to get a view and totally thought I broke the window when it vented. My host dad got a good laugh from that 😂

Same when I visited my great uncle in Swiss. I thought I broke his window...that i screamed and cried. No joke. He gave me chocolate and tea to calm down.

I love learning about new things everyday but not like that. I was so scared.

Love these windows. All windows should be like this. First time I encountered it, it took me a minute to figure out twisting the handle up vs down create different outcome.

Absolutely love them

Every friend who would come to Germany for the first time, I’d do this to the window but pretend to freak out and catch it and say “oh sh*t”, and then push it back in and have them come hold it there while I “try to fix it”. Always a fun time

*I, as a Polish person, use that feature everyday. I don’t know how people outside Europe live without it* 😂

Here, they even made some balcony doors tilt too. It really is a life saver in summer.

This is normal in most of Europe and I thought until like 2 months ago that this was world standard 💀

Edit: I said MOST of Europe not every country

I was stationed in Germany for 3 years in the U.S. Army and LOVED these windows! You could get fresh air without opening the window all the way. What befuddled me was a lack of screens on the windows to stop the bugs from coming inside.

You’re so lucky to have a man so dedicated and loves you with all his heart. I’m jealous!

You must be careful not to turn the handle sideways when the window is tilted. Otherwise the window may only be attached at one corner and can easily break off. ^^ (Wise-Guy-Smiley).

I did exactly the same thing the first time I went to Europe. I used my body trying to stop it from falling only to realize it was designed that way. It’s actually quite practical.
