Wonderful Sunday lunch. Back in England my late wife and I went out for Sunday lunch all the time. Again during the week, when I had a day off. We had some great ones, but I expect your "Imperial" would be tops. For atmosphere, definitely! 10/10

It looks amazing! Can’t believe I’ve never been there and it’s my neck of the woods. I must have driven past it hundreds of times. We always used to ride our horses up to the Ramblers Rest nearby.

I know this pub very well! I lived in Chislehurst for many years, and frequently went to the Imperial Arms (named after Napoleon, who lived in the mansion that is at the top of the hill). The mansion (chateau, really) was purposely built for Napoleon's exile, and I went there every week as a Rotary club member. The Red Lion is also excellent for Sunday lunch, although I would recommend getting there at 12:00 as it gets very crowded. Also, Royal Indian Cuisine in Royal Parade is amazing for food and service, and it's hidden away down an alley.

The Imperial Arms pub in Chislehurst, England, has had many famous visitors, including:

Queen Victoria: A regular visitor who arrived by train to popular acclaim

Emperor Napoleon III: Rumored to have visited the pub discreetly, and that the barmaid, Catherine, was his mistress

Empress Eugenie: Along with her son, Louis-Napoleon, the Prince Imperial, lived at nearby Camden Place in 1870

Louis-Napoleon, the Prince Imperial: Lived at nearby Camden Place in 1870, and was joined by his father, Napoleon III, in 1871

French government spies: Believed to have visited the pub and surrounding area

The pub was renamed in 1876 to honor the exiled French Imperial Family. The bar is still nicknamed "Catherine's Bar".
