I'd just like to mention Rottmnt didn't get a lot of funding and was cut short during season 2. I'd say the movie portrays it better than the series, because I'm fairly certain the creators were still getting the hang of what they were doing. It was a new thing that probably could have been executed much better.

Personally, I love the animation style, though I can understand some people may not like it so much.

2003 and 2012 are my favorites hands down. In my eyes, they're equally good.

I'm so glad I gave 2012 a second chance. Originally, I stayed away from it because me, being extremely bias toward the 2003 version, hated the CGI transition as well as the more comedic direction toward it. However, after watching it more, my gosh it has such a compelling story and has super dark moments that even top 2003's.

We all can’t lie, besides the first live action tmnt movie, Rise of the TMNT:The Movie is without a doubt the best TMNT movie to ever be made. When it comes to the animation, the story, the characters, the BADASS Krang, Leo’s character ark, the emotional scenes that make us cry and keep routing for the turtles and with some of…if not the best fight scenes in the whole TMNT Franchise, everything in that movie honestly beats the shit outta all the TMNT movies and shows(And 2012 if that’s debatable)Say what you want about the series being”Not the same TMNT I knew from 2012 or 2003 or 1987.”You cannot say that the Rise movie didn’t have care and soul put into this movie.

I freakin’ LOVE the animation for “ROTTMNT.”

The 2012 series was without a doubt my favorite TMNT cartoon. It was dark, funny, action packed, and just pure awesome. However, the reason I see this as the best is simple: Source Materials.
This cartoon took different aspects of different parts of the TMNT franchise weather be comics, other shows, movies or video games and found away to incorporate it into the series. Such as when they included Bebop and Rocksteady, after only appearing in the 80's cartoon. Same when they turned Dog Pound into Razhar after being mutated twice and Shredder into the Super Shredder which were references to Secret of The Ooze.

I feel like the Rottmnt show and movie should have been separate entries. Despite being in the same universe, the tones and themes of both are so drastically different from each other that it doesn't really feel fair to lump them together. The show was only so-so imo, but the movie was amazing.

The 2003 tmnt series is criminally underrated imo

I know this is y’all’s opinions but ROTTMNT deserves a lot more respect. Especially the animation. It is easily the best in turtle history and rivals anime with all its fight scenes. It’s better than turtles forever(also you forgot to mention the lack of the og actors and the awful characterization)

2012 was the best in my opinion. Both as a kid and teenager I love the plot, emotion depth, humour, and character development. 2003 never really rubbed off on me so in my opinion rottmnt would’ve taken second but I completely understand your way of ordering it by public perspectives so I think you did this list very well:)

Rise of the tmnt will always be my favorite iteration, hands down. I personally love everything about the series in its entirety. The characters, the animation, the character development, the story. Yes, the animation can be a bit too quick for the eye to follow, but it certainly makes up for all of it. The movie was gorgeous! From an artist and writer's standpoint, absolutely beautiful. Rise didn't deserve the hate it got when I first came out, and I wish it comes back for more seasons. Still got hope!

The 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the best of all the Ninja Turtles series in my opinion. It has sidescreen/CGI animation for the characters, and they're well developed in the story of the show.🐢⚔

2012 is my favorite, but it did have one major issue that wasn’t mentioned in this video. And that was the romance aspect. Donnie’s obsession with April was WAY overdone. The writers made him stalk her, which was very creepy. Leo’s crush on Karai was a bit problematic, since they’re technically step siblings. Mikey’s crush on Renet was also a bit weird, because she’s from the future, making Mikey far older than her. The only unproblematic romantic relationship was Raph and Mona Lisa. The show is a solid 9/10, but it would have been a 10/10 without the romance.

I don’t think rise of the TMNT get enough recognition
The series shakes up the TMNT elements a little to much but the way they do it is quite entertaining to watch, where I think they went wrong was changing to much to fast, while TNMT 2012 had diverted from the standard format a lot by it’s conclusion, it eased into and hinted towards those changes beginning with a more familiar take on TMNT before introducing the more wild concepts, e.g. numerous time travel adventures, intergalactic adventures, April’s mysterious past and her immense psychic power, crossovers with the og 80s TMNT characters, the mad max inspired future episode and the summoning of a powerful demon voiced by Mark Hamil that summoned an army of ghost from the netherworld, where rise when wrong was introducing all the changes so quickly, the mystic weapons are cool but it’s a departure from the usual TMNT that rely of their training and weapons to win battles, though many other TNMT gain powers they’re usually temporary like 2012 Micky’s lightning powers, all that said I can’t say I don’t enjoy Michaelangello using nunchucks to throw, buses, oil tankers and skyscrapers at his opponents
As for the characterisation while Leo was just Micky with swords, the real Micky wasn’t that different to his past iterations, I found Donny’s overly eccentric and egotistical personality quite funny when u see how different it is to the usual more nerdy, and shy Donny especially when I see how cool his inventions are with a more complete and industrial design to them instead of the more slapstick, cobbled together fusion of krang technology and literal trash that 2012 used, it was cool to see Raph as the leader and seeing his more softer and caring side and as the protector of the team rather than the fiery wrathful brawler he’s usually depicted as, KC Jones was darker than I was expecting and I liked the affect he had on Leo and his design was pretty decent, I found both splinter and April boring for the most part, splinter acting like a lazy father rather than a both the father and teacher he usually is though he was funny at some points, April I felt just acted as every typical teen girl and just had nothing about her character that stuck out to beside the powers, the villains were hit or miss, the smaller villains just felt goofy and gimmicky but the big threats were actually pretty cool, rise shredder was pretty much a super shredder, a demon and a monster, cool but still lacking in depth, the krang I found quite interesting though, they basically put the threat level of the 2012 krang into the body of 80s krang or 2012 krang sub-prime, making him a far more serious threat with a body that no other movie or TV krang could beat, a tactical genius and a ruthless combatant

I grew up with the original 87 Turtles and have seen every version since, and I gotta say Rise of the TMNT is my absolute favorite besides the Fred Wolf cartoon. It's just so good. Every turtle fan should give Rise a chance, its truly a masterpiece

Your problems with Rise - that it's colourful and for little kids - seem to be exactly the same things that you have with 1987 Turtles being so great. And I love the distinct animation. The idea that the frenetic fight scenes of Rise are inferior to the Secret of the Ooze fight in which there was no weapons at all is just ridiculous. In fact, I dislike Ooze even more than the Bay movies. The Rise Movie is probably the darkest TMNT movie so far - EVERYBODY DIES. Like, in the first two minutes. You want dark? THAT would be dark.

2012 is... good, but at the same time it sometimes feels like it's just trying to leech off 2003 a lot. It's also got my genuinely least fave April. It's like April was meant to be the hero but failed.
