Vorkuta resembles scenes from post-apocalyptic films or scenery for some kind of computer game.
Vorkuta is located 150 km north of the Arctic Circle on the 67th parallel, in the permafrost zone.
The construction of Vorkuta began in 1931. For the first 30 years, the city and coal mines were built exclusively by convicts.
From the late 1930s until the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953, Vorkutlag was located in Vorkuta - one of the largest Gulag camps. There are no exact data, but about 2 million people passed through the Vorkuta camps, about 200 thousand of them remained here lying in the ground. Vorkuta is a city built on bones.
In my video you will see how the inhabitants of the Russian city Vorkuta live.

The statutes of Lenin or Stalin looking out over these towns is just depressing when you see what the towns look like.

It appears that Ukraine bombed this town, but no. This is very normal outside of Moscow and Petersburg. I'm an expert in Russia and Russian culture. FYI: First world countries are modern, third world countries are poor and undeveloped... Russia is called second world country because they are a shit-hole like third world but they have nuclear weapons.

I have commented on another video and said that I like it a lot. I just want to ask; are these your own photos or do you use someone elses´? If these are all your own then that would be fantastic, travelling all over Russia like that.

Many German ancestors died there. The MDR TV did a document about this topic.

Not much worth fighting for, I don't blame the people who fled.

Some of the architecture is very neo classic - with Roman columns, etc.

Vorkuta is a Gulag as you well know. Go and look at the Canadian and US slums.
