Starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman in the lead roles, Guide was released on 6 December 1965. It was directed by Dev Anand's brother Vijay (Goldie) Anand and was based on R.K. Narayan's 1958 novel The Guide. The film won four Filmfare Awards at the 14th Filmfare Awards ceremony held in 1967, for Best Film, Best Director (Vijay Anand), Best Actor (Dev Anand) and Best Actress (Waheeda Rehman).
