How can you be shocked by anything the planet is over billions of years old, species could have risen traveled to other planets and died off a billion years ago. We are a very low life form just down from the trees very short time ago. We think way too highly of ourselves. Our hubris will be the end of us, our greed too!

There are many old unfounded species (not new species) in the Amazon, but they are fast disappearing due to commercial exploitation.

P H Fawcett was an English Surveyor working in the Amazon in the early part of the 1900's. He disappeared along with an expedition he was with. His son Brian Fawcett wrote a book called "Lost Trails, Lost Cities" from observations his father had written about in letters he sent to his family. On pages 92 and 93 is an account of an Anaconda he shot and killed near Rio Negro "A length of forty-five feet lay out of the water, and seventeen feet in it, making a total length of sixty-two Brazilian Boundary Commission told me of one they killed in the Rio Paraguay exceeding eighty feet in length." also the local natives spoke of an even larger different black species in the Araguaya and Tocantins basins known as the Dormidera.

My own personal theory on these advanced ancient civilisations is humanity have developed & destroyed itself due to natural causes & self inflicted causes over and over again hence these sites that seemingly don't make sense. Just a theory extrapolated from our own tendencies for self destruction
