Feel so bad for Joel. You can tell as much as he wants to help Ellie and protect her. He’s just terrified of experiencing that same grief that he experienced when he lost Sarah. That’s why he wanted to walk away. He was right when he said “you don’t know what loss is” don’t get me wrong Ellie had it tough. All her family were gone and that’s tough for a kid but losing your parents, your grandparents, older relatives, It’s natural. It’s a part of life. Outliving your children is unnatural. It’s not supposed to happen. And there’s no stronger love than the love a parent has for their children

The scene where Ellie and Joel argue in these graphics brought me to tears cuz you can understand what Ellie is saying and what Joel is sayin and the conflict is just heart breaking
