The world is so brutal and depraved that God Himself came down to spread a message of peace and love, and we had him arrested, tried under trumped-up charges, beaten, nailed to a cross and killed....only to rise again in glory.

Agree, but the problem is that modern churches sometimes goes with this message too far. There is a huge difference between being kind (as the Bible teaches) and being nice. If someone is having a hard time and you help him unconditionally, you are kind. If someone tries to destroy your culture, country, family etc and you don't say anything because you don't want to "offend" this person, you are not kind but nice. If our ancestors were "nice to people" as many modern churches teaches, the Europe would be muslim in the Middle Ages because we would lose the Battle of Tours (and other battles after that)

I've grown up in a very non religious catholic family. Occasionally we went to church, but I was an atheist through my middle school and high school years. I've only had my christian reawakening recently. I wouldn't say I subscribe to any specific denomination though. I'm a man of the book. As cheesy as it sounds love and forgiveness really are the most powerful forces in the universe. Love is infinite through Jesus.
