Today, I will show you how to watch Ghost In the Shell in order. Keep in mind that there are 3 main series with different timelines which you can start in any order, but I will recommend you the easiest watch order.
First, you want to begin with the original movie series. There is Ghost In The Shell in 1995 and the sequel “Innocence” in 2004. Both movies will take you roughly 3 hours to complete. You can also replace the 1995 movie with 2.0 in 2008 if you prefer modern CGI animation.
After that, you can move on to the Stand Alone Complex series. Begin with the 1st and 2nd season of Stand Alone Complex, which has a total of 52 episodes, each lasting 25 minutes.
Then, proceed to watch Solid State Society, the TV special that concludes the Stand Alone Complex series. The next 2 OVAs called The Laughing Man and Individual Eleven are both recaps for the first and second season of Stand Alone Complex.
After that, you can watch the netflix series Stand Alone Complex 2045, which has a different style and animation that takes place 11 years after Solid State Society. There are a total of 24 episodes, split into 2 seasons. Alternatively, you can watch the recap movies Sustainable War and Season 2 Movie respectively if you are low on time.
