The Marcus King Band are an American rock and blues band from South Carolina.

The band is by lead singer and guitarist Marcus King, who is also the band's main songwriter. The band's music is heavily influenced by classic rock, blues, and southern soul ( think Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Neil Young !).

The band have released several album (which I'm looking forward to hearing and sharing ) and toured extensively throughout the United States. They are known for their high-energy live performances and Marcus King's guitar playing and songwriting abilities. The band has been praised by critics and fans for their ability to blend different genres of music in a cohesive and authentic way.

"Goodbye Carolina" by The Marcus King Band. Is from their album "Carolina Confessions" which was released in 2018.

The lyrics of the song are introspective, reflecting on the memories and experiences of growing up in the South, and the longing to return home. Its depth and the band's ability to blend different genres of music in a cohesive and authentic way made me long for the place I call home , if a song can do that for me ?

I'm with you on this one. You can definitely hear "influences" and morning wrong with that. We are all shaped in one way or another by such influences. Art is no exception.
It certainly does not make one derivative by itself.
Excellent job, again.

To add to what Daddy Big wrote below, Marcus said he felt like it was his recently deceased friend who was writing the lyrics. Suicide sucks.

He is the best going right now.

Check out some of his live stuff to really see what he’s about. Watch this version of ‘Rita is Gone’

If you want something heavier, check out this cover of Grand Funk Railroad
