This week, Andina News Agency announced the discovery of a tomb that contained a member of the Inca elite, in Cerro Blanco Mountain in the Lambayeque region of the northern desert of Peru.

It is more than 500 years old, is large and archaeologist Anaximandro Nunez Mejia said, it is unprecedented in the region. The tomb covers more than 60 square metres, is deep, plastered and made with high quality mud brick walls, which include niches that would have once held idols of Inca gods.

It is like no other Inca tomb and has experts intrigued. Watch the video to find out more.

Love these videos! Not beating the "👽 alien" drum for every curious find, just the fact of what's there. Thanks

Strange how this “elite tomb” doesn’t even closely resemble the megalithic rock walls

A good update. The very top niches appear to be wood supports for a roof over the burial site. Remember Inca people would parade with their ancestors for ceremonial purposes.

La Huaca de la Luna is pretty impressive, been there and Cusco, amazing what they have uncovered, this video brings back some good times of my trek though Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil :)

First thought was how barbaric, sacraficial children, that wouldn't happen today, not when there's profit selling them into sex slavery, How wev'e progressed

Look at the building itself. Mud brick, stacked natural stone, no laser precision edges or large blocks. The cutouts for the idols are highly irregular (maybe erosion?). This is the tomb of an elite member of Incan society, and I'm supposed to just believe the same culture placed every block at Machu Picchu? 🤔🤔🤔

Wtf is up with sacrificing 6 year old children? It seems to me that human kind would be revolted by that practice. No matter what that is not amazing but disgusting.

It amazes me that ritual murder is called "sacrifice." It was never a sacrifice to those who committed the act.

Love your work. Unbiased & informative. 1 quick question! Do you ever think to yourself that it might be the first archeologists that arrive at these sites that rob them and just leave a small amount behind to study? This is something I've thought about for a while now. I hope not. Thanks cant wait for your next videos (on both channels) so good...👍👏✔

Wonderful vid. I really appreciate the historical context you provide surrounding these tombs. I'm thankful the tomb wasn't completely robbed out so that archaeologists were able to learn about the deceased.

Pure speculation about the fact that the evidence shows none being attributable to sacrifice..more likely family tragedy like illness or accident..buried together

The conquistadors themselves wrote their account of upending the Sapa Inca in what we now call Peru. How far is this site from Cusco, Peru, that it would be considered surprising to find someone of status from the Incan empire there?
