AP HEIMLER REVIEW GUIDE (formerly known as the Ultimate Review Packet):

Tiktok: @steveheimler
Instagram: @heimlers_history

In this video Heimler walks through Unit 4 Topic 6 in the AP World History curriculum. This topic is all about how growing empires (land-based and sea-based) experienced resistance to their rule from within and from without.

The Portuguese were made to contend with Queen Ana Nzinga of Ndonga. The Russians dealt with uprisings of serfs (Cossack Rebellion). The Mughal empire was brought to an end by the Maratha rebellion. The Spanish contended with the Pueblo Revolt. And the British had to come to terms with the misty of their enslaved workers in the Stono Rebellion.

If you have any questions, leave them below and Heimler will answer forthwithly.

Learning APWH over Zoom has not been it and I've learned little to nothing, and you're helping me a ton! I've decided to cram last minute a week before AP exams. I don't have much confidence at all that I'll get a 4, or even a 3, even with these videos and the Ultimate Review Packet that I've bought-- just because I gave myself so little time to study and get familiar with the materials. It's entirely my fault and I was definitely being a brat for not studying before and wasting money on the exams. I regret it so much. I was burnt out as a HGM student, and COVID quarantine has made it even worse for me. I want to give up, but I'll just try my best to get a decent grade and whatever happens, happens. Here's to hoping I don't procrastinate even more!

Although 1759 is slightly outside of the period 1450-1750, the Conquest of Quebec demonstrates how empires learned how to achieve successful reconciliation with conquered people. Hint: respect their language, religion, laws and culture.

The Royal Proclamation of 1763 meant official tolerance of the French language, Roman Catholic religion, the continued use of French civil and commercial law, and equal civil and voting rights for French Canadians. Since ancien regime French law was subsequently abolished in France itself by Napoleon Bonaparte, Quebec is the only place in the world today where this law remains in effect.

Indeed, allowing the people of Quebec to keep their own laws was one of the "grievances" of the US Declaration of Independence. Dang! Can't swindle the French with our superior knowledge of British commercial law.

The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was subsequently built upon with Canada's current policies of bilingualism and multiculturalism. Must have done something right, because in two referenda in 1980 and 1995 the people of Quebec voted "no" to independence.

Is there any way you can add mini "quizzes" to the end of your lessons? BTW thank you so much these lessons help me pass this class with an A!

nice 0 dislikes! i really love your channel Steve, i'm in 10th grade and i feel like since you're going through the AP World curriculum at the same pace as we're going through it in class, i can match up what i'm learning in class with what you're saying (although your videos are admittedly more helpful :))
