To the conversation with Ms Ashley and Mr Nathan, I will say that the student loan issue is not about accountability it is about failed government system to address college equity. Government funded student loans were created to address racially declined private student loans and when colleges were realized that they are giving government payday the price of schools went up. If the government can invest in a war and fund trillions of dollars to Ukraine and trillions of dollars to bail out the US car industry when they were failing. I fail to understand why they won't invest in the average American people the same why the government supports business.

I never see people get angry at theses multiple million and billion dollar companies getting bailouts. But as soon as they throw the average person a penny all of a sudden we here terms such as "handouts".

Funny thing is the student loans are prepaid through insurance our parents created at our birth called Social "SECURITY INSURANCE" (what is the security? OUR BODY, THE FLESH AND BLOOD, THE GREATEST COMMODITY EVER CREATED AND ABANDONED; What is the value? Full, Faith and Credit of the beneficiary, the flesh of god).

Not to mention after the maturity date on that promissory note, that paper turned into a security to also be traded for profits.

Exactly why everyone wants the SSN and signature of the beneficiary of the social trust, a "hidden status" created by our parents through the birth certificate which gives us permission to participate in COMMERCE/TRADE in a foreign jurisdiction called the U.S.

Point is this. MG is 100% RIGHT. These officials MUST do better!

At least wipe out all the interest payments and stall all the interest payments for 5 years until they revamp the student loan process. Let all my money goes towards the balance if you aren't going to wipe them out.

10, 000 is absolutely better than nothing. Yes, we can hold ourselves accountable for our degree of study, but that shouldn’t matter. We sacrifice money and time to earn our degrees, the least the career coordinators of the college could’ve done was make sure we had at least 1-2 jobs waiting for us when we graduated.

Not to be filling out a million in one job applications, tailoring resumes and cover letters, to not hear back from those companies. We’re putting in the effort.

People go to college to better their lives. But it is sad that the higher education system is like it is smh. Yes, people go to college for 2-4 years, or trade school, whatever is best for that individual. Only they know what is best for them. People can’t say “you shouldn’t took out that loan, ” because it might have been their only option.

For all black and brown folks. Please have your kids attend a technical college for 2yrs after high school then get employed in the technical field and use the money earned to pay for most of their college if they still want to attend regular college. I have friends making 6 figures each year with associates degree or technical certificates working in the energy field. You can also have them attend local Job Corps and get these skills plus employment help

Accountability? Did she attend college? She doesn't seem to be aware of what she's talking about. Many of us were promised financial aid packages in the beginning, but there was bait and switch. Tuition fees increased each year at a rate exceeding inflation.

If I didn't have a degree, I'd be living in poverty. No one should spend an entire lifetime repaying student loans.

As voters, we deserved tangibles from our elected officials.

It helps a tremendous amount of Black people - based on economics - most folks don’t owe $100K in student loans

The average debt of graduates $26K so $10K cuts that by a lot and if you got a Pell grant $20K

Host of folks that never graduated but still have the debt - this helps

I understand your point of view
But we can’t be expecting a hand out for everything!
Is 10k no… but it helps!
The problem isn’t the amount the problem is the capitalist system in place in America! And around the world!
From education, housing, agriculture, medical insurance (and all other insurances for that matter).

How is it that college tuition has gone up 54% from 2001 to 2021!
And salaries are up, less then 15%
The math doesn’t add up!
