The Kundibikorwa cooperative is part of the Cassava Agribusiness Seed Systems programme in Burundi, which improves farmers' access to disease-resistant cassava seeds. Burundi's cassava farmers face many challenges and the crop is a vital food source in the country. The cooperative members received training and cuttings from ISABU, IITA and SPARK, which allowed them to double the number of cassava seedlings planted in just one year. The National Seed Control and Certification Office (ONCCS) has certified that the seedlings meet the quality standards required and will be distributed to nurseries throughout the Makamba province, benefiting thousands of other cassava farmers.
