As reported by The Mirror, Prince William had a last-minute addition to his already packed schedule. With King Charles currently undergoing cancer treatment, his son stepped in for him at a Royal Air Force event. William took his father’s place at the Sovereign’s Parade, held at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire. The event held special meaning for William, as it’s where he earned his pilot wings back in 2008.
Earlier this week, King Charles had to cancel his planned trip to New Zealand due to doctor’s orders. He also made changes to his current calendar to allow for rest. While Charles is following medical advice, it was William who took over his royal duties for the RAF event. William was more than honored to represent his father at the ceremony.
In his speech, William said: "It is my great honor to be with you today, representing my father, His Majesty The King. I am delighted to see so many family and friends here—I know their love and support will have been instrumental in getting you to this point." It was a touching moment, as William himself had graduated from flying training at this same location years ago.
William also took time to thank the service members for their dedication and hard work. He recognized their contributions and noted how international relationships are key to maintaining peace and security. He pointed out that officers from countries like Jordan, Kenya, Pakistan, and Uganda were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of global partnerships.
