Excel SUMIF function is classified in MS Excel under Math Functions. SUMIF in Excel adds all the numbers in a range of cells that meet the criteria specified.

Range = The range of cells against which you would like to apply the criteria.

Criteria =The criteria used to determine the cells to be added.

Sum_Range [optional] = To add the cells together. If sum range is omitted, instead, the range cells will be added together.

#1 - It refers to the value of range parameter for range of cells to be the sum when sum range is not provided.

#2 - It is not necessary to include numeric criteria in quotation marks.

#3 - Double quotes (") must include the text criteria including mathematical symbols.

#4 - You can also specify the wildcard characters such as question mark?) (and asterisk (*) in the criteria where? ' It's used to match a single character while ' * ' matches any number of characters.
