Challenges and Opportunities of Sustainable Energy Transition

IRADE organised a G20/T20 workshop on Challenges and Opportunities of Sustainable Energy Transition on 04th July 2023 in New Delhi, India.
The coal sector employs millions of people in several states in India. The energy transition is quite complex and needs enabling policies and access to technology, financing and capacity building too for Just Transition. Given the importance of the coal resource for the economy and the importance of Just Transition for millions of people dependent on the coal sector. Balancing energy transition with foresight requires reskilling, capacity building and appropriate policies for land use. Alternative energy sources and innovation could result in a better life for all concerned including the mining community, tribal and younger generations aspiring to innovate and live sustainable lives.
The key objective of the workshop is to engage think tanks, government officials and experts from Coal-dependent countries such as India, China, Indonesia and South Africa will exchange their experiences with Australia, the USA, Germany and/or the UK. The workshop will discuss and deliberate on the key challenges and opportunities for sustainable energy transition and the required strategies and policies for Just transition.
