Cats don't need anything but a little roof and a LOT (i mean, a hell of aLOT) of food, trust me.
I had a cat called Wiskass, that cat was a litteral legend, he was given to us by a rancher, living on a ranch, where he was used to hunt rodent, he knew nothing else than being outside all year long in a shed with horses. Im from Québec and winters can get below -35 celcius, he did come inside home so we can pet him but he would return right back outside, because he wanted to, otherwise he would get mad (i mean real mad) and proceed to produce the strongest meow i ever heard (still to this day, kinda sounded like a serval but he wasn't a serval at all, he was just really a strong meower lol).
That cat got attacked by dogs and fox (yes, i reacted i would never let my cat get beat by any other animals), but the thing was that, Wiskass didn't needed me at all, i saw that cat beat up some pitbulls (who deserved it for tresspassing on HIS territory which he protected real hard by hidding in tall grass lol) even fox who tried to eat Wiskass were getting their ass wooped and i mean, REAL BAD. This cat was the Chuck Norris of cats.

Now....
**Beware sensitive people***

One day Wiskass came home with a hole in the neck, probably some other cat that been in a fight with Wisk must have slit him neck, but he wasn't bleeding, my mother being a nurse, thanks my lord!!! She sterilized the wound everyday, for 4 years.
Yes, exactly, Wiskass lived with a hole in his neck for 4 years, still going outside to protect his territory, kicking a** like the King he really was, no doubt about that, other cats were scared of tresspassing his territory, even trash panda were scared of Wisk.
Also, Wisk had a really alpha way of walking, kinda like a muscular pitbull would lol.
He was heavier than he should be for his size, but that was no fat my friend, those were pure muscles!

Still waiting for the day i'll find Wiskass 2.0

I want him back, he was the best cat EVER, sure everyone say this, but that was no regular home cat, that was Wiskass, a name to be remembered as the most notorious cat warrior that earth must have known.
Btw Wiskass never been agresive, he did not attack animal that didn't attack him or tresspass his territory, i could sleep with my head on him and he didn't gave a single F, he started to purr actually!!!
That cat was like a big brother for me. Saved my a** from the neighbors dog who tried to bite my face..
I'll never forget you Wisk ❤️
Hope your getting all the ham you want in heaven (was his favorite food).

For a cat house it’s a great idea to get a old or thrifted cooler and saw a hole into it and add heating pads! I did this with my cats and used a old car seat heater that we don’t use anymore. We are planning on making another because we have two cats and they live on our backporch aka the catio

We tried straw and our feral cat didn't care for it, we have a pet bed heating pad and an old sweatshirt inside a pet carrier, she seems to like it. Cat has it made, she even gets breakfast and dinner in bed.

I have a question and I hope someone can answer it for me.
At the stables, there was suddenly a cat. She was hunting the fields for mice but now that it gets colder, I am afraid there are not a lot of mice. I feed her some catfood. We have an open barn with a big stack of strawbales. It is completely closed, but from the front side, it is completely open. I have seen her sleeping on top of the strawbales. She also digs holes in a haypile. We also have a few stables which are not being used anymore, but that the cat can enter by walking under a fence.

The stables are not mine. I just take care of the horses and buy catfood for her. She cannot go inside a house, but there are multiple barns, stables or paddocks she can hide from wind and rain.
Today I also saw that she digged a hole in the strawbale.
The winters here are mild (Netherlands). Snow is common but only a few days a year. Will she be fine if she can hide from the wind and rain and dig holes in the strawbales?

Also no one is looking for her. I already checked that.

I bought my outside cat a house and warming pad (that isn’t electric) and she loves it.

**She didn’t go in until I put the pad down. Beforehand She preferred the so if you get a house get floor padding as well :)

I’ve had outdoor cats for the whole time that I’ve been in arkansas. The problem is i live by a highway, and most of them die from being hit by a car.

They were supposed to change the chemical structure in Anti-freeze so it smelled BAD to cats so they won't drink it anymore!!! I heard they did but I guess it's just wishful thinking. I have a pet cemetery and one of the cats in there was poisoned (we think by Anti-freeze) and it was an AWFUL way to go!!! We had to rush him to the vet to get put to sleep, it was so so so bad and I hope no one ever has to go through that! I'm trying to build some shelters for homeless cats at the wetlands park. I've been feeding an orange tabby since it was a little tiny kitty and he's about 7 months now and HUGE!! I went to put hand warmers wrapped in socks into his makeshift home (sticks n rocks put together to create a tee-pee like structure that I put lots of towels n shirts in to help insulate it but I have to make something better) and there was 2 new cats there now, so I gotta up my game and I'm mad at myself for waiting till winter instead of doing it months ago....but I'm trying.

I am so pissed off because I look these up for outside on google yet they all say to not put outside! Soo stupid and lies

The best tip is, don't have outdoor cats. Keep your cats inside where they are safe and warm. If you want to take them outside then walk them like you would a dog. If you're an adult and you don't want cats inside your home, then don't get a cat to begin with.

I dont have an outdoor cat(or indoor hopefully soon i will though) but this is also great for small animals such as birds!(I have alot of them in my area even in winter)

I like pine shavings much better than straw. Straw is dusty, it can also mold and it is hollow so a lot of times insects like mites will get inside it then on your animals.
